FAMS Food Wars 2017

On November 1, Mrs. Weiner and Ms. McAloney, 7th grade teachers at FAMS, held the first ever FAMS Food Wars with their 7th grade ACES classes. Students were challenged to develop healthy recipes using farm-to-table ingredients.  The students not only had to create recipes but also determine the nutritional content of their recipes, prepare their creations and then present their recipes and recommendations to a panel of judges.

The 5 judges were:

Dr. Lydia Furnari, Superintendent of Schools

Ms. Eva Prunk, FAMS Assistant Principal

Ms. Leisel Steines, Supervisor of Curriculum, Instruction, & Professional Development

Ms. Allison Larson, FAMS Guidance Counselor

Ms. Laura Metzler, FAMS PTA President

The winners of the innaugural FAMS Food Wars were:

All of the recipes created will be entered into the Nicholas Markets Healthy Lunch Recipe Challenge.  Kudos to all of the kids and congratulations to this year's winners!
